Have you ever found yourself going through the motions, yet feeling completely disconnected—from yourself, from others, or from the life you’re living? Maybe it feels like you’re always bracing for something, caught in patterns of fear without even realising it. When trauma is held in the body, it can quietly shape the way we move through the world—leaving us stuck in cycles of overworking, people-pleasing, withdrawing, or feeling constantly on edge.
Sometimes, we don’t know why we feel the way we do—only that something isn’t right. You might feel trapped in ways of coping or relating that once helped you survive, but now leave you feeling isolated, exhausted, or numb. Perhaps you’ve tried different avenues of support and still feel unsure of how to move forward. Therapy can offer a space to gently explore these patterns with curiosity and care—to begin reconnecting with yourself and what matters to you, one step at a time.
I’m Frances, a BACP-registered therapist based in Leeds. I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can take your time to explore your experiences—at your own pace, in your own way.
I see therapy as a collaborative process—one where we gently untangle things together. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, processing a difficult event from your past, or simply feeling lost without knowing exactly why, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
I work with adults, offering both short-term and longer-term therapy, either in person or online—whichever approach feels most comfortable for you.
Taking that first step can feel daunting. But you don't have to do it alone. Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal choice, so I offer a free, no-obligation conversation to see if we’re the right fit. When you're ready, reach out for a chat.
If counselling is new to you, it’s completely natural to feel unsure about what to expect.
Therapy doesn’t follow a rigid script, and there’s no ‘right’ way to do it. At its heart, it’s a space we create together—a space to be yourself, to ask yourself questions, and to be curious about your inner world. Talking isn’t always easy. Sometimes, finding the words can feel overwhelming, or the idea of opening up might feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable. That’s okay. There’s no pressure here. You can go at your own pace, find your own voice, and use forms of expression that feel safe and meaningful for you.
Whether you come to therapy with a clear goal or simply a sense that something needs to shift, we can explore what feels important together. As we go along, we’ll check in regularly—looking at what’s been helpful, what’s felt challenging, and what you might want to focus on next. This helps us shape the sessions around what truly supports you, allowing the process to unfold in a way that feels grounded and responsive to your needs.
My role is to walk alongside you, to listen with care, and to support you as you explore whatever’s happening in your life—whether that brings sadness, reflection, or even moments of lightness and laughter. All emotions are welcome. Real, lasting change takes time—and that’s okay too. What matters is that you have a space where you don’t have to pretend. A space where you can begin to make sense of things and reconnect with yourself.
Life can be complex, and at times, deeply challenging. People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons—some are navigating a specific issue, while others may simply feel that something isn’t quite right, even if they can’t yet put it into words.
I offer support for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, and times of transition. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions or moving through a significant change, therapy can offer a space to feel supported and understood.
A particular area I focus on is working with people who feel disconnected—either from themselves, their emotions, or from others. This can show up in many different ways, such as:
Having experienced my own journey from disconnection toward feeling alive again, I understand how complex and isolating these feelings can be. My approach is centred on gently supporting you to reconnect—with your emotions, your body, your sense of self, and with those around you—at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, we’ll work together to explore what’s beneath the surface and find a way forward that feels authentic and meaningful.
I understand that reaching out for support isn't always easy. That's why I offer a free 30-minute consultation to meet, discuss what brings you to therapy, and see if we might work well together. There's no obligation or pressure—just an opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for my approach.
